Thanks Rod, Not sure what you mean Bob. I live/work in Vancouver BC. The client and the guitar are in Calgary. I'm thinking that two way shipping will outweigh a setup cost. He's taken it to someone who shimmed the nut (which always raises alarm bells to me, it ain't no Hondo) and no longer likes how it plays. The guitar is getting on a year or so old, so I think it's due for a looky loo. I'd love to do it myself, but don't want him to pay unnecessary shipping. Ya know? |

Ed, if the owner isn't humidifying the guitar faithfully, it will be drying out this time of year in Alberta. I just checked and the RH in Calgary is 54% compared to 98% in Vanc. and 97% here in K-town. Indoors with a furnace running probably no more than the mid to high 20's in Calgary without humidification. I'd take Doug's offer to have a look, and advise your customer to check the humidity that the guitar is being stored in. Cheers, Cal |

Cal could be correct in his assessment. My workshop humidifier sat dormant for much of the summer but has recently kicked into high gear. This guitar owner could ensure humidity is at an appropriate level for a week and then see what happens. |
