I have a client with a guitar in need of some set up work. Anyone know anyone in Calgary with a good reputation? Thanks, Ed |

Isn't that something a skilled guitar builder should know intimately? Oh No.... Did I just say that out loud? ![]() Please don't take too much offense at that but it seems an odd question to me (But then I am a repair guy first and builder second). Cheers, Bob |

Ed, Sorry for that post... I guess I should learn my Canadian Geography. ![]() I just got it, Vancouver is like what 1200 miles from Calgary? Cheers again.... Bob |

Thanks Rod, Not sure what you mean Bob. I live/work in Vancouver BC. The client and the guitar are in Calgary. I'm thinking that two way shipping will outweigh a setup cost. He's taken it to someone who shimmed the nut (which always raises alarm bells to me, it ain't no Hondo) and no longer likes how it plays. The guitar is getting on a year or so old, so I think it's due for a looky loo. I'd love to do it myself, but don't want him to pay unnecessary shipping. Ya know? |

Ha! Yeah, it's hard to make it there and back on a single transit pass... |

I'm happy to look at that guitar if you like Ed. PM me if interested. If you found someone else no worries. |

Ed, if the owner isn't humidifying the guitar faithfully, it will be drying out this time of year in Alberta. I just checked and the RH in Calgary is 54% compared to 98% in Vanc. and 97% here in K-town. Indoors with a furnace running probably no more than the mid to high 20's in Calgary without humidification. I'd take Doug's offer to have a look, and advise your customer to check the humidity that the guitar is being stored in. Cheers, Cal |

Cal could be correct in his assessment. My workshop humidifier sat dormant for much of the summer but has recently kicked into high gear. This guitar owner could ensure humidity is at an appropriate level for a week and then see what happens. |

Always a factor, that pesky RH. I build at 40%... |
